What finish does the application require?
Matte canvas surfaces absorb light without reflection, producing a painting-like appearance that reads well in bright environments and under direct sunlight. This makes it ideal for fine art reproduction and spaces with strong ambient light. Satin surfaces introduce a controlled sheen that makes colours appear more vivid and saturated — preferred when prints are displayed under gallery track lighting or photographed for digital reproduction.
Will the canvas be gallery-wrap stretched?
Gallery-wrap framing requires a canvas with sufficient tensile strength to be pulled tightly over wooden stretcher bars and stapled at the rear — without cracking the ink layer at the corners. Both Epson Exhibition Canvas grades (395–430 GSM) incorporate elastic polymer coatings specifically engineered for this purpose. Canvas below 300 GSM, or without this coating, typically cracks or delaminate when wrapped over frame corners.
